Immigration of UK

If you are planning to visit UK as a Visitor or to explore or with work permit or as a student, our expert team can help in all the ways.

Study in UK

The Tier 4 (General) category is for adult students who want to come to or remain in the UK for their post-16 education.

If you are 16 or 17 years old and you want to study a course at or above National Qualification Framework level 3, you can apply under this category or under Tier 4 (Child) - you should discuss and agree this with your approved education provider (known as a 'Tier 4 sponsor'). But if you want to study English as a foreign language, you must apply as a Tier 4 (General) student.

Immigration Rules for Students

  • You must intend to study at a publicly funded university or college, a bona fide private institution or a fee-paying independent school.
  • You must be able to and intend to follow a full time degree course, or a weekday, full time course at a single institution involving at least 15 hours of organized, daytime study per week.
  • You must be able to pay for your course and the living expenses of your husband or wife and children (if they are with you) without working in UK or claiming public funds.
  • You must not intend to work in UK unless you are accepted for a course lasting longer than six months, when you may work part-time or during vacations.
  • You must intend to leave UK at the end of your studies.

Accommodation

The immigration rules do not require unaccompanied students to show that accommodation has been arranged, in case your place of study has given you information about its availability, you should bring this to the attention of the ECO.

Settle in UK

  • After you have lived legally in the UK for a certain length of time, you may be able to apply for permission to settle here. This is known as 'indefinite leave to remain'.
  • If you are applying to enter the UK as the child of a British citizen or a person who is settled here, we may be able to give you immediate permission to settle here permanently.
  • If you are applying to enter the UK as the child of a British citizen or a person who is settled in UK, you may be able to get your immediate permission to settle in the UK permanently under the Partners and families category.

FAQ for UK

1. Which UK visas does Aapka Holidays help with?

We guide applicants for UK Standard Visitor visas, Student visas and family visit visas, and explain settlement routes for eligible applicants.

The Student visa, which replaced the Tier 4 (General) visa, is for students aged 16 or over who have a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a licensed UK education provider.

You usually need a CAS, valid passport, proof of funds for fees and living costs, English language evidence, a tuberculosis test certificate for Indian applicants and payment of the Immigration Health Surcharge.

You need a passport valid for your stay along with bank statements, income proof, employment or business documents and a travel plan. Self employed, sponsored, retired applicants and minors need extra documents.

Most universities ask for an approved English test such as IELTS for UKVI, PTE Academic or another Secure English Language Test, though some accept other evidence. We check each university's rule.

Students on degree level courses can usually work up to 20 hours a week during term time and full time during vacations, within the conditions of their visa.

The Graduate Route lets eligible students stay and work in the UK for a period after completing their degree. The duration and rules are set by the UK government and are revised from time to time.

The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is a fee paid with most UK visa applications longer than six months. It gives access to the National Health Service during your stay.

Family dependant rules for students have been tightened, and currently mainly postgraduate research students can bring dependants. We explain the latest rules for your course.
